My pottery practice seeks to create objects imbued with life; I combine my ambulatory forms with bright, colorful glazes to make work filled with fun and funky personality; pieces that may wander off if you look away.

Clay, as a medium, has its own voice. It can be both subtle and loud, and always provides its own input into the creative process. Working with it is a cooperative endeavor; the artist must listen when the medium speaks and gives feedback. In this way, clay feels very alive to me. I strive to make pieces that embody the liveliness that I feel within the clay.

I work out of my home studio, where I utilize both wheel throwing and hand building, as each technique contributes uniquely to my pursuit of lively pottery.

When not playing with mud, I enjoy hiking with my two cats, taking nature photography, caring for my small collection of tarantulas, and playing sudoku. During the days, you can find me behind the front counter at Ithaca Piercing & Tattoo.
